NEW YORK, NY -- HearstLab, an investment arm of the Hearst Corporation focused exclusively on supporting and scaling women-led technology startups, has announced six finalist companies for its upcoming pitch competition, Pitch HearstLab Texas, which will take place October 18th.
Winners at the event will receive a $100,000 investment from HearstLab, along with support services to bolster the company’s growth. The finalists were selected by HearstLab from applicants across the U.S. and are listed below.
Pitch HearstLab Texas Finalists

- Scope Zero (Pitch HearstLab U Winner), creator of the Carbon Savings Account™ for home technology and personal transportation upgrades that fosters employee financial wellness and enables corporate ESG strategy. Presented by Co-Founder & CEO Lizzy Kolar.
- UpTrials, an AI-enabled B2B SaaS solution to optimize clinical trial hiring and operations. Presented by Co-Founder & CEO Renuka Agarwal.
Each company will present in front of a live audience and panel of expert judges, including Eve Burton, EVP & Chief Legal Officer at Hearst and Chairwoman at HearstLab. In addition to pitches from the finalists, the event will also feature a panel discussion with founders from the HearstLab community.
The six female founders were announced as competition finalists at the culmination of HearstLab’s recent showcase in New York, which featured guest speakers from Cosmopolitan, ESPN, A+E Networks, as well as several HearstLab portfolio companies and Hearst business divisions.
Pitch HearstLab Texas will be the organization’s sixth pitch competition, following Pitch HearstLab Madrid on October 4th in Madrid, Spain. Pitch HearstLab Texas is produced in partnership with San Antonio Express News and takes place October 18th at 2 p.m. CT at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
